Never too young for cultural pride...

Updated: Jun 9, 2022

The photo above is the great work of Michael, a 3rd grade student enrolled in the San Francisco Unified School District. For Pacific Islander month, he presented about the Republic of the Marshall Islands, where his ancestry is from. He and parents gave permission with pride and excitement to share his display of work here and we are happy to see his cultural pride celebrate with him. May more of our children take pride in their roots like Michael even if their homeland is an ocean away. Being in touch with the cultural heritage we carry in our bodies and showing it with pride wherever we are is powerful...no doubt the ancestors are happy and children to come will benefit. Thank you for teaching and inspiring us all Michael.
