Inafa'maolek.us at CHamoru weekend events
We started our Sunday heading to Chenchule Festival in Hayward. We looked for to the CHamoru bands playing an eclectic musical variety and of course our fav dance group Kuttaran CHamoru of Long Beach. It was good to see Jahnay Luna with her team dancing from ancient to Spanish style CHamoru numbers in full regalia. We met some vendors selling t-shirts, CHamoru food and other CHamoru items. We left a bit early on our way to Probechu Restaurant on Mission St, SF. Me, board members Meritiana Veavea and my brother Rawlin Castro and his wife Maggie Castro attended to support Probechu Restaurant in SF Liberation Day Celebration Sunday July 17 in SF. We were treated to musical performers Jason J (musician of the American Song Contest). Jason J represents his village of Yona influenced by pop, reggae and alternative rock developing his own unique style and The Compadres as well as the rooted CHamoru dance group Kuttaran CHamoru from Long Beach. Food was great with red rice, bbq choice, potato salad, finedene and of course carrot cake to top off a good day.
